NOMAD Pro 2 X-Ray System

Writer: ShutingShuting

Designed in association with Dexis Envista Holdings Corp.

The NOMAD Pro 2 project was launched as part of a strategic initiative to bring key aspects of design and manufacturing in-house, following the product’s acquisition by Danaher through Aribex. Building on the foundation of the original NOMAD Pro, this next-generation model focuses on enhancing manufacturability and ease of assembly.

High-Voltage Transformer Design- To support the transition to in-house manufacturing, the high-voltage transformer was redesigned from the ground up. Plastic injection-molded parts were developed to facilitate efficient silicone filling while preventing high-voltage leakage. The design prioritized both functionality and manufacturability. A step-down transformer was created based on requirements provided by the electrical engineering team, with voltage reduction achieved through optimized coil turn ratios. Various 3D printing methods, including stereolithography and FDM, were employed to prototype and validate the design concept.

Structural Improvements- Multiple points of mechanical interference and design inefficiencies were resolved to improve overall assembly ease. Minor aesthetic refinements were also applied to panels and accessories to better align with regulatory requirements.
